Enco W51 Review - TWS with Affordable Cancelling Noise from Oppo

Since the end of 2019, Oppo no longer just issued a smartphone. The company also launched several IoT products. And last year, OPPO presents many wireless earphones, including TWS Enco W51.

Enco W51 Review

In the country, Enco W51 is priced at debut prices of $89.31 and comes with the present features such as wireless charging and noisy reducer that we can rarely see in this price range. TWS also supports touch control and claimed to offer a battery life of up to 24 hours.

Sounds interesting right? Does the Enco W51 as good as seen on the specification sheet? Cellular tries to find out with this review.

Packaging

Oppo Enco W51 comes in a white square box with a good matte final result, which includes a safety and quick start guide, USB-C cable, and three pairs of silicone ear pads in various sizes (small, small, extras, and large). This is an addition to medium-sized which is installed on Enco W51.

This certainly is very relieving having ear pads with different sizes because it allows you to find the most suitable, which is very important for a comfortable listening experience, better audio, and good passive sound insulation.

Design

Oppo Enco W51 has two color choices: black and white. Square charger casing - which packs a 480mAh battery, weighs 55.5 grams with bud in it, and light, compact, and easy to carry.

Casing design The charger reminded the Galaxy Buds Live. It has a shiny finishing and susceptible to scratches and fingerprints. The casing also has a reflective OPPO logo on the front, with a USB-C port located on the back along with the LED charging indicator, which blinks red when the battery level is low, yellow while moderate, and green at full.

On the inside, you get Earphones Enco W51 TWS. There is no label left and right, but fortunately, it is not needed, because the one in the left enters your left ear, and the other on the right. Simple.

While the outside of the charger casing is all shiny, the inside is shiny and partially matte. There is also a physical button called the function button with a silver ring around it, on it, there is another LED, which indicates the status of the connection and battery level. Releasing the Enco W51 of the slot will show the magnetic connector, which holds Bud in its place and prevents it from falling.

Talking about Bud Enco W51, this is small and light and feels very comfortable to wear, even for a longer time. The end of his eardrover felt smooth and comfortable too.

Enco W51 dustproof and water IP54, which means you will be fine wearing it during exercise. It also supports touch control and low battery detection.

Software and connectivity

Earphone Oppo Enco W51 TWS comes with Bluetooth 5.0 and has a 10-meter range. You can choose to use both buds simultaneously, or just one by one and enter the other into the casing.

We did not face any connection problems during testing when we paired Enco W51 with smartphones, laptops, and Android TV. Had several times disconnected, but he immediately connected again, so it didn't hamper anything.

Enco W51 is compatible with Android and iOS devices and supports Quick Pairing, but only works with certain OPPO smartphones. Which is also exclusive for some OPPO smartphones is touch control customization. For non-Oppo smartphone users, this may be quite troublesome because you have to use the default touch control.

But if you have a compatible Oppo smartphone, you can adjust the touch control as desired from the Bluetooth settings.

However, there is an application called Heymelody which allows you to check BUD battery levels and charger casing on any Android device. You can also increase firmware through this application. So actually only iOS users have no way to improve the Enco W51 firmware or check the battery level from Bud and the charger case.

Features and Performance

Oppo Enco W51 packs a 7mm dynamic driver in each bud and has a 20Hz ~ 20KHz frequency response range. They are equipped with a double TPU composite graphene diagram to increase the audio response and treble performance. Besides, Enco W51 supports touch control and tear detection and hybrid noisy reducer features for music and calls.

Active Noise Cancellation

Let's talk about noisy reducer because that's one of the main features of Oppo Enco W51. Oppo uses three microphones in each bud along with a double digital disorder reduction chip to reduce noise up to 35 dB.

Enco W51 Review - Software and connectivity

In our testing noisy reducer is quite decent, Enco W51 does not prevent all the sounds of the outside world, we still heard in a low-frequency range such as the sound of the train and horn vehicle. But overall, the noisy reducer feature on Enco W51 is very appreciated, for the price range.

Touch control

Touch control software on Enco W51 can be adjusted, but only if you have a compatible Oppo smartphone. If you have it, you can change the movement twice and tap three times by heading to your mobile Bluetooth settings.

Movement Tap twice for Bud left and right has six options - no, active/nonactive noise cancellation, play/pause, before, next, and Google assistant. While the movement tap three times only has two choices - no and Google assistant.

By default, touch movements Tap twice for the left bud lets you activate/disable noisy reducer, with the right bud play the next track/video. On the other hand, the movement tap three times called the Google Assistant in both buds.

Detection of wear in the Oppo Enco W51 works properly. It stopped music when we released Bud from the ear and continued playback after we put it back. It works not only with music streaming applications but also YouTube and Netflix.

Audio quality and voice call

Oppo Enco W51 works well in Voice Call tests. The other person can also hear us hard and clear, and we also have no problems listening to them. Earphones also maintain connections with smartphones during calls as we move indoors.

Talking about audio, Oppo Enco W51 comes with a decent sound profile for the price range. Crispy treble and not too hard. The vocal is clear and many instruments are played quickly without significant detail loss.

Latency

Oppo Enco W51 is supported by Bluetooth 5.0 and adapts Bluetooth transmission of low latency binaural to reduce audio delays and improve audio-video synchronization. During use, we do not face any delays between audio and video while watching videos on YouTube and Netflix, we see some slowness when playing games, so if you like competitive games, you should use a wired headset or use wireless earphones that have lower latency.

Battery

Oppo Enco W51 packs a 25mAh battery in each BUD, with a charger casing that has 480mAh cells in it. OPPO claims that at a volume of 50%, Enco W51 can provide a music playback for 3.5 hours with one charging with an ANC enabled, and 4 hours with ANC turned off.

When paired with a charger casing, Oppo said you can get a total of 20 hours of playback with ANC, and 24 hours without ANC (Active Noise Cancellation).

TWS with Affordable Cancelling Noise from Oppo

The Enco W51 exceeds the 3.5-hour claim in our test when we play music on a volume of 50% with an ANC activated because they consistently last for 4 hours. But if you play music on a higher volume with ANC turned on, you will get more drained durability.

After the battery in Bud and the charger container is finished, you can plug in the USB-C cable to fill the two. Oppo said the charger casing with Enco W51 in it took 80 minutes to change from flat to 100%, but in our test, it takes only one hour for full charging.

The Enco W51 casing also supports wireless charging Qi and takes 2.5 hours for full charging with Bud in it. We do not have compatible wireless chargers to verify this claim.
