Asus Vivobook 15 OLED K513EA Review - Laptop with the Cheapest OLED Screen
We were rather shocked when we arrived at a laptop with an OLED screen from Asus. Nothing, OLED laptops usually come with a price of tens of millions.
It is rarely found laptops with an OLED screen are priced at a price of dozens of millions. However, at our table, there was a laptop called Asus VivoBook 15 OLED K513 which turned out to be priced at $ 710.28.

Talk about the keyboard, we feel this laptop keyboard is delicious to use. Suitable for those who need a laptop for work and need numbers. Regarding typing experience, this laptop keyboard provides a fun typing experience and does not make aches.
In addition, the presence of a white backlight on this keyboard also makes a comfortable typing in lack of light. Backlight brightness on this keyboard itself can be set with the F7 key.
TouchPad questions, we don't have any comments because it's rarely used. We prefer to use the mouse. Only occasionally we tried and we felt, the touchpad on this laptop had a spacious that felt less. There are still spaces for the touchpad to be longer. But again, we are just fine-fine about this touchpad.
In the TouchPad section, there is a small box in the upper corner right. At first, we had thought that the unit we tested this would have a fingerprint and the box was the location.
However, the box only functions as a right-click. Not as a fingerprint and as a button to turn on numbers on the TouchPad commonly found on the Asus laptop.
We are quite satisfied with the design of this laptop. Not many gimmicks but they still impressed premium for the price class. You could say, bring this laptop will not be too shy. Quite okay to be used as a mainstay for work or brought to campus or school.

The screen itself doesn't feel wide thanks to Nanoedge Display technology. This technology makes the laptop screen have a thin bezel so that the body dimension can be more slender like a 14-inch laptop. Most of the top and bottom is thick.
If the top is reasonable because there is a webcam that can be used for online video conferencing for work needs or online learning. The video quality itself is quite okay during the condition of the room and light enough. If it's a bit dark, the webcam will produce a rather blurry video display and lots of noise.
Back to the matter of the screen, we have repeatedly mentioned that this laptop offers an OLED screen. However, we have to remind you that the OLED screen on this laptop is certainly different from the OLED screen on a premium class laptop.
The OLED screen on this laptop is a special screen made by Asus. Therefore, the screen is called the Asus OLED screen. This Asus OLED screen technology presents various features and capabilities that make the screen have an advantage compared to the IPS panel in general.
The first advantage is the quality of the color of the laptop that is okay. Simply put, the ASUS OLED screen has a richer and more clear color compared to the standard screen panel. This can be achieved because this laptop offers screen technology with DCI-P3 and 400 NITS brightness levels.
The second advantage is a comfortable screen panel for the eyes. Thanks to TUV Rheinland certification, this laptop screen can reduce blue light so that it makes the eyes healthier. Therefore, the Asus OLED screen is friendly to the eyes of children thanks to reducing blue light that can interfere with the child's development and growth.
The third advantage, the ASUS OLED screen can display clear images even though it is at a low-screen brightness level. ASUS claims this laptop screen has a more detailed color display, though once again even though it is set with a low brightness level.
The fourth advantage, the Asus OLED screen can present the detailed black color and have a very extreme contrast ability. CPU Performance
The Asus VivoBook 15 OLED K513e which we test is a variant that uses i3-1115g4 tiger-lake-u based on 10nm fabrication and has a speed of 3 GHz. This processor has 2 cores and 4 threads with a maximum TDP of 28 watts.
The processor is a processor that is already convenient if used for productivity needs, such as office work. For example, typing, doing assignments, video editing work, and light design. If you look at the results of the Geekbench benchmark 5, the score obtained is 8,076. Great score.
While for testing Cinebench R15, this laptop score is in the range of 490 CB to 506 CB. Depending on the model used. Oh well, about the mode that refers to the performance option from ASUS VivoBook 15 OLED K513E.
For information, the ASUS VivoBook 15 OLED K513E has three modes, performance, standards, and whisper. These three modes can be arranged and modified using a key combination or in a special application from Asus.
Performance mode makes the laptop work hard to produce its best performance. The effect of the fan will be noisier. While the Whisper mode makes the fan doesn't work too hard aka the ability to be lowered. Standard mode is the mode between the two modes mentioned.
The benchmark results we did on this laptop existed in Performance mode. This is done to see how stable the laptop is brought to real performance. Another example of a benchmark is the result of PCMark10 which shows a number at 3,829. Figures are quite high.
In the end, the benchmark is not everything. The experience of using laptops is better offering actual performance. The experience of us using this laptop, the performance offered is relatively good for various Kanntora tasks. The 11th generation Intel Core i3 processor appears to have an important role in its performance.
It's just that, some things are the obstacle to us, namely RAM. The default RAM of the laptop that we tested only offers 4 GB. Still comfortable for lightweight work activity activities. But if it has been brought heavier, like opening a lot of tabs in the browser, it feels like the RAM is offered less. Sometimes, the opened tab page needs to reload.
For this reason, if you choose this laptop, we suggest directly upgrade RAM, at least to 8 GB. The goal is that this laptop's performance can be firmer. Take it easy, Asus VivoBook 15 OLED K513E has an additional slot to add RAM.
Graphic performance
As an affordable laptop, it feels reasonable if the ASUS VivoBook 15 OLED K513E does not add additional graphics cards. This laptop graphics performance only relies on the UHD Graphics Intel who has 48 unit executions. Because of that, we didn't expect much to use this laptop to play games.
But it's not a fool it feels that this laptop isn't our test playing games. With 4GB of RAM support, we chose to play Garn Strike Global Offensive or CSGO gim. We play this game at 720p and feel comfortable aka Playable. However, for 1080p resolution, GIM feels less comfortable. Safer indeed playing CSGO games at 720p if you use this laptop.
At first, we will also test Genshin Impact. Unfortunately, looking for the performance of CSGO, we understood the game, especially Genshin Impact Need 8GB RAM. Certainly not beautiful playing the game.
Based on this, we think if the ASUS VivoBook 15 OLED K513E which we test is less suitable for playing games. It might be a different story if you use another variant that the processor is firmer and has an additional graphics card.
Harddisk Performance
Asus VivoBook 15 OLED K513E that we test, comes with a 256 GB SSD. The SSD type used is SSD NVMe PCIe which can certainly produce fast performance. Based on our testing using CrystalDiskMark 8, SSD in ASUS VivoBook 15 OLED K513E This gets a reading speed of 1,777 MB / s and the speed of writing 374 MB / s.
We were rather shocked by the write result or wrote it quite far from reading it. Usually, the range is half. Therefore, we tested again using CrystalDiskMark version 7. As a result, the reading speed is 1,781 Mb / s and the speed of writing is around 960 MB / s.
Feature
Not many other features are offered by this laptop, which we think can be truly special. However, there are two things we should talk about, the first is the matter of AI Noise-Canceling Mic technology.

The second feature we need to lift is sound quality. Believe me, we are amazed by the audio quality of this laptop. The sound produced feels out of a classy speaker.
This is of course thanks to the Harman / Kardon certification owned by this laptop. His voice was very tasty and clear so enjoying multimedia content using this laptop was fun.
Battery
Asus VivoBook 15 OLED K513E is equipped with a Lithium-Ion 42WH 3-Cells battery. This battery can be said to have long durability during the use of standard typing. It's just used to watch videos while connecting to the internet, for some reason it feels wasteful. Watching a video of 20 minutes 720p only reduced a range of 9 percent.
Fortunately, the thing we like about this laptop is a fast filling time. From the power of 15% to 75%, it only takes about an hour aka 60 minutes. Whereas full additional time is almost an hour.
