Little Nightmares 3 Review - Little Nightmares 3, the new title and sequel to the Little Nightmares series, was provided by Supermassive Games as the developer. This game's presence is quite surprising and awaited, especially by those who have followed the previous two series.
The details about this game are exciting enough to explore in depth. And this time, ExGamesPlay will share its gaming experience through the short points below!
So that you are no longer curious, let's start the discussion!
The Storyline of Two Little Friends
In this game, we no longer play the role of Six or Mono anymore. We will play as Low and Alone, two friends who are trying to escape from a world called The Spiral.
Low's character is described as a small man wearing a crow mask who is good at using a bow and arrow. Meanwhile, Alone is a little girl wearing big glasses with a wrench as a weapon. Not only for self-defense, but this weapon can also open roads, destroy things, and rotate several machines in The Spiral.
The interesting thing about the two previous series is that you can choose Low or Alone to play, and the other characters will be driven by AI if you choose solo. Or, you can invite friends to play together in Co-op mode online.
Gameplay is the same, can be played solo or in a duo
As for the gameplay itself, both the character movement mechanisms, puzzle solving, and the side-scrolling 3D-platformer base in Little Nightmares 3 still appear to be the same, and there are no changes like the previous two series.
One additional thing about the gameplay is that Low and Alone characters are able to fight certain creatures with weapons, where Low can attack long distances with a bow and arrow, then Alone destroys them with a wrench.
Apart from that, another new Little Nightmares 3 gameplay is an umbrella to fly to other places. Apart from that, we just solve puzzles, move from one place to another, and run from chasing monsters.
Even so, this game has its shortcomings, especially in solo mode. When the author tried the game, the AI in Little Nightmares 3 was slow to respond and didn't even trigger anything, and this happened in several bosses or places that required two people to interact, making the author have to reset the Checkpoint in order to continue, even though this mode seems to be able to be improved in the future.
It's different when trying Co-op with several other friends; timing and cooperation are really the main keys to surviving, and unfortunately, Local Co-op is not provided to maximize the experience of playing with friends.
Please note that the progress of these two modes is made separately! Because Co-op progress can only be played online with your friends.
Apart from that, Little Nightmares 3 seems to lack content variety. Even though you can use weapons, this seems annoying at some moments and there isn't much combat. Like the previous series, we are still told to go around the room, solve puzzles, and escape from chasing monsters.
Then there was also a bug when Low and Alone entered and exited the mirror; there was a moment where the author restarted the game because it was stuck and couldn't run at all. However, this shortcoming is covered by successful puzzles that make the author rack his brain.
The graphic visuals still give you goosebumps
As we know, the two previous Little Nightmare series were famous for their eerie, surreal worlds with terrifying monsters that seemed to depict children's nightmares.
This time, it returns in Little Nightmares 3. Players again play as two small children who are full of threats. All the buildings are giant, dirty, destroyed, and also trying to avoid the monsters that are chasing them.
The unique place that was previously shown in the trailer, Necropolis, aka, in the middle of the desert, looks epic with blowing dust that obstructs vision. Not to mention that some places really offer a scary, dark, and tense atmosphere when passing through.
Like the previous series, each place has unique puzzles, and terrible creatures or entities that are ready to capture Low and Alone at any time. This detail is what makes the three Little Nightmares seem special and distinctive to gamers, and it remains in Little Nightmares 3.
Conclusion
Even though it has advantages and disadvantages, the game Little Nightmares 3 is one made by Supermassive Games who are curious and have been waiting for the next Little Nightmares story. This game also provides a sense of challenge wrapped in a tense atmosphere, both when playing solo or with friends online.
Apart from that, the Co-op mode provided has its own advantages because it brings a fresh impression, whereas the previous two series could only be played solo.
Finally, the author is satisfied with Little Nightmares 3 and recommends it for those of you who want chaos alone or with friends in children's nightmares!
